math
today we went over finding the equation of a line by looking at the line. We used the lines that you were supposed to have done for hw.
We will use 2 ways to find the equation of a line in the form of Y=mx +b:
- create a table of values (t-table)
- find slope and y intercept
- 9i was assigned 6-11 p239 in the text.
Science – all classes have a quiz in science tomorrow
Chapter 10 – Circuits
° 4 parts of a circuit and an example for each :
1.source of energy,example a battery,
2. load, example a light bulb
3.switch, example a light switch
4.connectors, example wires
° Open versus Closed Circuit
° Be able to draw a schematic diagram
Questions page 301 # 1-5
°Electrical potential p.303 Know what potential energy is, give 2 different types of potential energy
( gravitational, chemical)
° Know that electrons flow from – to + from a battery
° Symbols:
V = voltage (also known as electrical potential)
Questions page 303 # 1-4
10.7
° Know the difference between CELLS in series and CELLS in parallel
° Be able to draw schematic diagrams of each
° Ex.2 cells in series will be app. 2 x the voltage; 2cells in parallel will last app 2x longer
Series and parallel circuits questions # 1,2,3 p.311
° What is electrical resistance
° What is Ohm’s Law
° Be able to calculate Ohm’s Law questions – know the triangle
° What is a short circuit
Ohm’s Law questions # 1-6 page 319
° Know the difference between LOADS in series and LOADS in parallel
° See notes. Be able to draw. Know that when loads are in series, the overall current DECREASES and when the loads are in parallel, the current INCREASES. See notes and figure 2 page 324 and figure 5 page 326
Series and parallel circuits with multiple loads, questions # 1-4 p.327
Chapter 10 Review Questions p. 328 # 3,4,5,7,8,9,10,11
Vocabulary to review: know all vocabulary in key terms page 328. Can omit: dry cell, wet cell, electrolyte, primary cell
Chapter 11/12
Chapters 11/12
° renewable vs non renewable energy sources. Be able to give pro’s and con’s on each.
° sustainability – looking at the social, economic and environmental impacts of energy production/consumption
° how our energy gets produced and delivered to us
°Energy costs and conservation
°Alternative energy sources
