science – test for electricity today.

math – 9i has completed to #11. #12 is due for hw.

9f – 6-9 for hw.

  • it is important to keep up with the work that is being assigned ! Some of you are getting behind because you are not keeping up.
  • By now you should know how to:

  1. make a t-table from an equation
  2. make a graph from a t table or an equation
  3. find the equation from a graph  ( by making a t-table or from slope / y intercept
  4. know straight lines ex y=2, or x=3

April 16

math

today we went over finding the equation of a line by looking at the line. We used the lines that you were supposed to have done for hw.

We will use 2 ways to find the equation of a line in the form of Y=mx +b:

  • create a table of values (t-table)
  • find slope and y intercept
  • 9i was assigned 6-11 p239 in the text.

Science – all classes have a quiz in science tomorrow

Chapter 11/12

Chapters 11/12

° renewable vs non renewable energy sources. Be able to give pro’s and con’s on each.

° sustainability – looking at the social, economic and environmental impacts of energy production/consumption

° how our energy gets produced and delivered to us

°Energy costs and conservation

°Alternative energy sources

you will respond to the article on 384 of text – either for or against the project using information in the article to support your response.

Math

The 6.1/6.2 assignment has been completed and checked. If you have not written it, arrangements must be made asap or zero will be applied.

The 4 main topics that you will be responsible for in 6.3 are:

  • make a t-table from a linear equation
  • make a graph from an equation/t-table
  • find the equation of the line from looking at the line on the graph.
  • understand horizontal and vertical lines on the graph ( horizontal lines have y values that are the same; vertical lines have x values that are the same)

Homework is to have the sheet on t-tables and graphing completed. Next class we will be moving on to finding the equation from a line! You will be behind if you don’ t do your homework.

NOTE – if you miss class, it is your responsibility to catch up!

April 10

Grade 10 registration  – times have been sent home today for registration on Friday. If the time does not work for you, please email me.

All students should have the rough copy of the form completed and back to me by tomorrow.

Please note – as many students are missing several days of school due to trips ect, the policy we follow is for the student to catch up upon their return.

Science – in science we have been finishing up chapter 10. The review has been completed (#’s 5-10,13,18,21,22).  We will combine chapters 11 and 12 with the chapter 10 test. This will be a short quiz.

What we will be looking at from chapters 11/12:

Chapters 11/12

° renewable vs non renewable energy sources. Be able to give pro’s and con’s on each.

° sustainability – looking at the social, economic and environmental impacts of energy production/consumption

° how our energy gets produced and delivered to us

°Energy costs and conservation

°Alternative energy sources

Math

We have finished 6.2. The assignment on 6.1/6.2 will be written tomorrow. We will begin 6.3 after that. Please bring a ruler or some sort of straight edge to class!

March 8

math – both classes have finished 4-9 and have assigned 10 – 14 page 276. . Some students have finished and are working on the review. Expect a chapter 7 test Wed or Thursday

science – 9f and i  have finished notes and questions 1-4 for section 10.3 page 303

March 7

math 91- finish the “what  did carpenters call their bass quartet? sheet if it was not completed in class. Do 4-9 page 275

science i, – took notes on 10.3 potential energy and watched Bill Nye video on Energy.

science f,j – notes on 10.3 and experimented with van de graff generator.

March 1

Science – we have started ch . 10 . You should know: what energy is, two types of energy, 4 parts of a simple circuit. See slideshow in electricity section.

Math – both classes have completed 7.1 assignment.  #4-11 page 269 are due for next class (most of you are likely done!).

***** anyone who has not written or completed an assignment or test has to come see me asap!! Anything not completed my tomorrow will be zero unless other arrangements are made with me.

Feb 27

HR – our class had the SOS presenation today.

Science

  • due to the SOS presentaion, 9i did not have the science tests on chapter 9 today. It will be Tuesday, period 6.
  • 9f – quiz today. Anyone who did NOT finish may finish it at lunch time in the detention room tomorrow.
  • 9j – finished quiz today.

Math

  • 9f. We have corrected the text questions and the 7.1 sheet. Finish the sheet on the Lame Elephant for hw. We will be having an in clas assignment Tuesday or Wednesday.
  • 9i. We missed class today due to the SOS presenation. Make sure al of your work from 7.1 is caught up.

* check new science page update on electricity

* check math page chapter 7 update

Science quiz reminder:

9j is Friday – we reviewed today.

9i and f – Monday. Review questions and notes. Review questions on page 294-295 # 3-14, 21-24, 26. Be able to draw/expalin examples of how to charge items.

Math -  9 i and 9f have 3-15, 17-20 and 24 page 260-261 due for Friday.  Class time was given….students who used time WELL in the last two days have most if not all of these done.

Stat review of homework check – most students did not have hw done….this will reflect in your understanding of the material !! This is good stuff if you give it a try! If you don’t try it …you can’t learn it!
